IG-69 Danica Wichtermann - Red Tailed Black Cockatoo bowl and spoon

$95.00

This bowl and spoon forms part of an ongoing exploration of Western Australia’s black cockatoos, with a focus on the Red-tailed Black Cockatoo; an iconic yet increasingly vulnerable species.

The surface is hand-worked using sgraffito, where layers of coloured slip are carved back to reveal the porcelain beneath. Through this process, feather forms emerge—both detailed and gestural—capturing a sense of movement, rhythm, and presence. The composition draws on the quiet beauty of feathers found on the ground, traces of life that speak to both presence and absence.
